Great Loves, Vol. III : Paul & Joanne

Paul Newman & Joanne Woodward were married on January 29, 1958 in a civil ceremony in Las Vegas.  Paul presented Joanne with a gift - a silver cup inscribed with the following:

"So you wound up with Apollo

If he's sometimes hard to swallow

Use this."

There are a few reasons Paul Newman and Joanne Woodward are among my favorites.

First of all, (let's be frank here) they're both really good looking.  And they united to create this really beautiful couple, whose love was so apparent - so that years later, I could sit at my desk drinking tea with a sleeping puppy on my lap, sifting through countless old photos of them being beautiful and happy and in love.
